- description: In 2010 a group of 5 friends started with the idea of making a business where it could be possible to combine nature and design. After several attempts with different products, and making several different prototypes (even with kitchen tabletops) we finally decided to assemble a wood workshop where we could manufacture wood frame eyewear. It was the beginning of Custom Projects. Thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and most importantly; the people, are the three building blocks the company was founded on. Also we believe that manufacturing our designs instead of maximizing profits, by moving overseas is one of our main values. We do everything ourselves from start to finish in our workshop in Mexico City, and we are very proud of it. As a result we can see greater innovation, superior quality, and direct human relationships in all the steps of the process. We are very proud of our handmade products. We will always be propelled to improve as we continuously refine our products and processes, while always striving to meet our client's needs and suggestions. We use sustainable wood for all the frames. We use mostly teak and walnut. Proteak Renewable Forestry (www.proteak.com) is our wood provider and our partner, and they are certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) as a sustainable wood provider. We don't use any chemicals or colorants, for protection of the wood we apply a completely natural wax that is made by Berhfer Laboratories specifically for us. The German lens manufacturer Carl Zeiss provides us with UVA and UV protection lenses, which we assemble with our own hands for every Custom Projects pair of sunglasses that we sell. We partnered with Proteak Renewable Forestry (www.proteak.com) and Custom Green (www.customgreenprojects.com), every six months we reforest an eroded area with the help and support of local students and volunteers who support our mission. Our basic principle is that for every pair of sunglasses we sell, we seed a tree. We all also teaching kids how to educate their communities and schools to find and institute more ways to go green. Como una empresa consciente y socialmente responsable uno de nuestros compromisos es plantar un árbol por cada par de lentes vendidos, esto gracias a la motivación y ayuda del personal de CUSTOM PROJECTS y voluntarios. De esta forma se crea conciencia en la unión empresa-cliente-comunidad para reforestar áreas públicas y concientizar a la comunidad sobre el gran problema ecológico en el que nuestro planeta está inmerso.
