- description: I filled my karting seat full of lead, but why? Well in a regular arrive and drive rental karting race, you’d just rock up and hop into the kart. It doesn’t matter if you weight 50kg or 150kg, you’re weight is a variable to the kart’s performance. In this case, this race has weight minimums with two different classes: Lightweight (80kg minimum) or Heavyweight (90kg minimum). So I am under 80kg with my gear on, so I had to tape up some lead and place into the seat directly. In owner-karting, drivers still use lead, but it’s typically bolted directly to the chassis.
