An Utair Boeing 767-300 was forced to abort its landing as an Aerolineas Argentineas Airbus A340-300 was preparing to take off. The Utair pilots pulled up just before striking the Aerolineas Argentineas plane, closing the already-deployed landing gear and re-entering the busy airspace over the airport. The Aerolineas Argentineas flight took off as normal, and the Utair plane landed successfully on its second attempt. With over 35 million passengers in 2013, Barcelona Airport is the second-busiest in Spain, and the 31st-busiest in the world.
