- description: Canada did not win any medals on the final day 16 of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, but did have the most successful Olympics with a record 29 medals (11 gold, eight silver and 10 bronze), breaking the record of 26 set at the 2010 Winter Games. So what did happen on day 16? The Olympic Athletes from Russia took home the men's hockey gold, defeating Germany 4-3 in overtime. Francesco Friedrich piloted Germany to gold in the 4-man bobsleigh after securing 2-man gold earlier in a tie with Canada, who placed sixth in the 4-man final and Sweden won gold in the women's curling action, defeating South Korea 8-3. It's the third Olympic women's gold won by the Swedes, surpassing Canada's two titles. Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjoergen, already the most decorated Winter Olympian ever, won the last gold of the Pyeongchang Olympics, in the women's 30-kilometre mass start classic. It was Norway's 14th gold of the Games. And so the 2018 Olympics are closed with fireworks and an exuberant closing ceremony.
