- description: According to local news reports, the 51,770 GRT car transporter "Hoegh Osaka" encountered a problem with her on-board ballast system which created an unexpected severe list to Starboard whilst rounding the West Bramble cardinal mark. The local pilot took the decision to immediately beach the vessel rather than risk capsizing her in one of the busiest shipping regions in the world. The infamous Bramble Sand Bank, which is located in the body of water between the mainland and Isle of Wight sits just below the waters surface. It is the setting for an annual cricket match played on the abnormal high tide each summer. All 25 crew members were either airlifted to safety or rescued by the RNLI. Having seen the vessel up close, this will be a mammoth task to re-float her again. She is 180 metres long x 32 metres wide and had just set sail for the German port of Bremerhaven with a full cargo of motor vehicles and plant machinery. This footage was shot from a friends rib whilst circling the ship using a DJI Phantom 2 and GoPro 3+ Black edition camera mounted to a custom 3d camera gimbal. All CAA rules with regards to hight limits / distance from subject were adhered to throughout the flight.
