Just as the dog pounces on his leg, Tara, the family cat, darts in and chases it away. "Yeah -- she's a hero," Jeremy said, with Tara faithfully by his side. Jeremy has to get a few stitches for his leg, but is doing fine. His mother, Erika Triantafilo, said the dog belongs to a neighbor and is now under observation with animal control. Triantafilo said Jeremy had just gotten off the school bus and wanted to fly his kite outside. Jeremy was on his bicycle when the dog snuck up behind him. "The next thing I know, the dog was just there, and it was shaking him. Before I could even get there, my cat clobbered him. She saved the day," Triantafilo said. "Chased him away, and came back to him after the dog was gone. I just chased the dog away - tried to get it away from my son - away from everyone, and get him taken care of." Jeremy's parents are calling Tara a hero. "I didn't even really know what had happened until afterwards when my husband showed me our surveillance video and said, 'our cat saved our son.' It was truly amazing," Triantafilo said. "She's my hero." A little boy was riding his bike near his yard when a dog comes out of nowhere and attacks. The boy is knocked to the ground and the dog began dragging him away when the heroic cat sprang into action, defending the helpless child. A timestamp in the video says it was recorded Tuesday afternoon. The boy's father, Roger Triantafilo, posted the video to YouTube Wednesday morning. He wrote the following description. "My cat defends my son during a vicious dog attack and runs the dog off before he can do additional damage. Thankfully, my son is fine." Triantafilo lives in Bakersfield, CA. The boy was injured and required stitches. Beware when watching the video. After the cat saved the boy there are close-up images of the child's injuries. It is unclear what happened to the dog.
