- description: Sorry folks I got to the place in time to see it fall but didn't have time to get my camera out. The first 3/4 of this footage looks so shaky as accidentally had zoom half-on (from when the camera was last used). I did not hear any SIREN sounded beforehand (like we always see on Yankee tv shows), and I was only standing in Latimer Square, right by Worcester St (so, what barely 200-ish metres away). If I had just run out of the house in my Jandals I would have gotten it on film, but in the extra time it took me to lace up my steel-cap safety boots...anyway here is some commentary and some crowd shots as people left. Curiously people started leaving like 1 second after the event, I thought they might have hung around for a bit and chatted amongst themselves. The next time there is an implosion demolition, I promise I'll be there super-early and get it ALL, including the crowd arriving ! Actually there didn't seem to even be rain or mist in the air (I chose those words poorly when voicing this) It was just sort of early morning "bleugh". The low cloud has now lifted to a sunny morning. The demolition was to be held at 8 am, Sunday morning, 5 August 2012 in Christchurch, New Zealand, it is the first demolition by implosion of any building in NZ ever.
