- description: A trough is forecast to be positioned through Mount Isa, stretching towards Moranbah/West of Mackay and South into the Darling Downs/Warrego and Maranoa region. Separate troughs over North QLD are going to help influence instability. Extreme levels of instability are forecast across Coastal parts of QLD and through the Darling Downs. These will combine with extreme heating and very strong moisture content, along with significant turning to provide not only a Severe Storm, but also a high Supercell chance across the South-East corner of QLD – including Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Gympie, Toowoomba. Under Supercells; Damaging to Destructive Winds are likely, Large to Very Large Hail is likely, Heavy Rain and localised Flash Flooding are also at a high risk. Very frequent lightning is also expected. Through North QLD, there is also a chance of very heavy storms, providing the region with falls in excess of 50mm and possibly up to 100mm.
