- description: On each measurement cycle, the Arduino begins by discharging the foil plate (by connecting it to a LOW output pin). Then, it charges the plate slowly through a 10M ohm resistor and measures the time it takes until the charge is registered on an input pin. The presence of a human hand at close proximity creates a dynamic capacitor, which draws in the charge until full; so the closer the hand, the bigger the capacitor and the longer it takes to charge. The software then translates the time to LED brightness.
