- description: We need your help. HRM is in the running for a free main street makeover but we need votes. Lots of them. If we can make a splash in the Top 20 for North America, then we'll get a complete paint makeover for a three-block stretch on one of our main streets, courtesy of Benjamin Moore. It's not going to be easy though. There are more than 100 communities across the continent in the running for the paint company's Main Street Matters project. That's where you come in. Tell your friends, business contacts, neighbours, ex-pats in other parts of the world, and pretty much anyone you bump into on the street or online that they need to vote for Halifax. We have until the end of this month (June 30). Please don't be shy about posting a message on your own website about the competition, directing folks to www.paintwhatmatters.ca (that's where people can vote for Halifax and also learn more about the Main Street Matters project). If you're looking for a quick explanation of the initiative visit the HRM website at www.halifax.ca/makeourstreetshine - and feel free to use any of this copy as well as the Make our Main Streets Shine logo (attached) on your own website. With your help we can launch Halifax into the online voting stratosphere. If we're super successful, we might even convince Brad Pitt to come visit (you never know!). The mega-superstar actor is lending his voice to this Benjamin Moore promotion through his non-profit foundation, Make It Right.
