  • description: The Nashville Fashion Forward Fund was established in 2011 with funds from the first Nashville Fashion Week to support the next generation of fashion industry professionals with ties to Middle Tennessee and provide financial awards for professional development. The Fund and application process is managed by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Award recipients are selected by a committee of the Board of CFMT. Applications are accepted in the fall with winners announced early January. The establishment of the fund was inspired by the professional development opportunities provided by the Council of Fashion Designers (CFDA) through programs such as the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The Nashville Fashion Forward Fund ensures that Nashville Fashion Week is not just a signature high-profile event to celebrate creativity, but also an ongoing, sustainable focus for philanthropic support. "What a difference the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund is already making! And what a difference it will continue to make to enhance our region's role as a place which nurtures creative talent and opportunity. As the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund grows with proceeds from Nashville Fashion Week 2012 and future fashion weeks, so will the support available to the next generation of talent inour local fashion industries." -- Ellen Lehman, President of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Travor Rains - Traver Rains (born March 4, 1977) is an American TV personality, celebrity fashion designer, and photographer.[1] Rains grew up on a fourth generation AQHA Hall of Fame Quarter Horse ranch in Simms, Montana.[1] He later moved to Dallas where he received a degree in Economics and International Business from Southern Methodist University. After graduating Traver found himself in New York City training horses at the Chelsea Piers where he first met club kid, Richie Rich. Together the duo founded the fashion label, Heatherette[2] and dressed the likes of Madonna, Naomi Campbell, Gwen Stefani, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, Aerosmith, and Britney Spears. Binx Walton As an intriguing, stimulating, and daring girl, Binx Walton is new to the modeling industry, though it has been calling her for some time. Walton was first approached by an agency owner six years ago, and although she held back for a while, the development since then was worth the entire wait. Contrary to many models on the radar, Binx Walton took time to develop her look and style before pursuing her modeling career. Lucky for her, her look was worth it, as she is now represented by several agencies like AMAX and Next Models NY. Growing up in Hawaii and Tennessee gave Walton a diverse background, and she took advantage of those different cultures by studying performing arts. Modeling isn't her only talent, as she is also an accomplished performer of African dance and hip-hop. Project Runway is an American reality television series on Lifetime Television, previously on the Bravo network, created by Eli Holzman which focuses on fashion design and is hosted by model Heidi Klum. The contestants compete with each other to create the best clothes and are restricted in time, materials and theme. Their designs are judged, and one or more designers are eliminated each week. On July 4, 2006 the show's producers, Weinstein Company, announced a five-year deal that would relocate the show to Lifetime Television, beginning with Season 6. In response, NBC Universal filed a lawsuit against the Weinstein Company for violating its contract rights.[1] A September 2008 court decision granted NBCU's request for an injunction, preventing Lifetime from promoting or exhibiting "Runway" until further notice.[2] On April 1, 2009, the lawsuit between Weinstein Co. and NBC Universal was settled, with Weinstein agreeing to pay NBC an undisclosed sum for the right to move the show to Lifetime.[3][4] Season 6 began airing on Lifetime on August 20, 2009.[5] On August 27, 2009, NBC Universal wound up gaining partial ownership of Lifetime, when A&E Television Networks, which was already partially owned by NBC, acquired the channel's parent company, Lifetime Entertainment Services. It premiered on the Slice channel in Canada September 12.
