One woman told Perth Now she left the grounds with her partner and son when the fight began. “A Fremantle supporter was drunk, he was turning around yelling and abusing people and then he ditched a beer,” Jessica Rhodes said. “He turned around to fight a woman and it looked like he punched her in the face. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.” Another fan was escorted from the ground after pushing Hawthorn forward Luke Breust with an inflatable hand when he collided with the barrier. Perth Stadium Management has released a statement saying the incidents were addressed with the help of expanded security during the Finals. “An individual in the three tier stand who is alleged to have abused and attacked nearby patrons was removed from the stadium by police who are expected to undertake further investigation,” the statement read. “Another individual seated on the edge of the ground was also removed by security and handed to police after he made striking gestures towards a Hawthorn player on the field. “Police will decide if any further action needs to be taken as a result of the incidents.” The majority of fans are understood to have been well-behaved with a quiet Dockers contingent leaving the grounds after the Hawks win dashed their hopes of a sport in the Grand Final.
