The group was heading back to the mountain resort town of McCall after a day's hiking, when the plane suddenly lost altitude. It is seen skimming trees, before hitting the ground. The pilot, 70-year-old Les Gropp, suffered a broken jaw and ribs and a fractured cheekbone, however the other three men on board escaped with cuts and bruises.
