The video shows Josh leap into the water from a boat and try to grab the shark by the tail. He struggles to keep hold of the maneater and the shark eventually slips free before swinging back to take a chunk out of his right thigh. Josh hurries out of the water and climbs back on to the boat, clutching his thigh. The incident is believed to have occurred in waters near the town of Weipa, in the remote cape region of Queensland's tropical far north. Josh recalled: "Just wanted to land the 9ft shark, so armed with a rope I dived into the shark and croc-infested waters in remote far North Queensland and tried to wrestle it to the boat and tail rope it. "After a battle for 15 seconds I found myself locked in the Sharks jaws as it thrashed a chunk from the top of my right thigh... "I was lucky not to loose my sea cucumber instead. "It was a quick and regrettable decision that I realises was a stupid move, however, the plan was to release the shark without having to gaff or kill the large shark bye tail roping it. "This was unfortunate not to be so in the end. "Thanks to the staff at the Weipa Hospital. "They were very helpful." The shark is later shown in photographs hanging up on the boat - apparently dead after being caught. Josh is shown in other photographs with a large bite in his right thigh and blood all over his leg. In another photo, he is bandaged on the boat while holding the shark aloft with a friend
