- description: ***Special Thanks to Jakub Perka for showing these fantastic images. In March 2012, a Polish Oil Exploration team driving near remote Wadi al-Jadid in Egypt came across a P40 "Kittyhawk" lying untouched since making a crashing during the North African battles of WW2. An apparent forced landing, in which the undercarriage collapsed, the aircraft from 260 Squadron RAF remains in very good condition considering the nearly 70 years it has weathered the harsh climate of the Desert. An unused parachute pack was found alongside the wreck, very strongly suggesting the young pilot survived the crash.
