The shooting ended a standoff at a 7-Eleven east of I-25 on Colfax and Perry Monday morning. SWAT and negotiators swarmed the area after receiving word that several people were being held hostage inside the store. After attempting to negotiate with the suspect for more than a hour, police say he walked out with the female hostage. He refused to let her go when ordered to, instead allegedly trying to drag her back into the store. "Out of fear for the female's safety one of our officers fired a shot, striking the individual," Denver Police Chief Robert White told sister station KCNC. The suspect is in critical condition. None of the hostages were hurt. The woman returned to the scene Monday night to get her van and thank officers. "Great job...I got out alive," she told KCNC.
