JOHN'S, NL), May 1, 2013 -- The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit is requesting the assistance of the general public in identifying the persons responsible for an armed robbery at a commercial business on Conception Bay South (CBS) Highway in CBS, NL. On Thursday, April 18, 2012, at approximately 8:40 pm, RNC officers from Patrol Services, K9, Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Services responded to an armed robbery at Villa Nova Pharmacy on CBS Highway. The male suspects entered the store and demanded drugs before fleeing the scene. The males were armed with what is believed to be firearms. There were no injuries sustained during the commission of the offence. Investigating officers have determined that several hundred prescription narcotics were stolen. The RNC is concerned about the quantity and types of prescription drugs stolen and consider their potential availability on the street to be a public safety concern. One male suspect is described as approximately 5'11"ft and 170 pounds. At the time of the incident he was wearing black jogging pants, a black hoodie with the word "ECKO" written in white on the hood. He was also wearing beige gloves and black sneakers. The second male is described as approximately 5'8"ft and 170 pounds. At the time of the incident he was wearing dark clothes and yellow gloves. Both individuals had their faces concealed by something white. The males fled towards the rear of the building. The RNC General Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate this armed robbery and is seeking the assistance of the general public.
