  • description: Credit: SOI/HADES, Dr. Alan Jamieson A compilation of video footage captured from the deep sea Lander vehicles. Scientists discovered the highest density of supergiant amphipods ever seen. It was also discovered that they use their spiky tails to ward off predatory fish for the first time (this can be seen in the video). The fish seen at moderate depths are cusk eels and rattails. Below that are two new species of snailfish including the deepest fish ever recorded. Swarms of amphipods can be viewed at the end of the video recorded at 10,500 m depth.
