Rowdy MPs are said to have accompanied D'Ream's Things Can Only Get Better with chants of: ‘We Want Tony!' The Opposition leader left the party as MPs insulted him at the noisy booze-up, the Mail on Sunday reported. They also belted out The Beatles’ Back In The USSR – seen as an attack on him for failing to take a tougher line over Russia’s bombing of Aleppo in Syria. Mike Gapes, MP for Ilford South said: “I dedicate this song to the downfall of the Soviet Union. It’s never been more topical!" They also sang Madonna’s Like A Virgin, claimed to be a veiled dig at his claim he was forced to sit on the floor of a crowded Virgin train. Dozens of Labour MPs joined arms to sing D-Ream’s Things Can Only Get Better and used their own secret ‘anti-Corbyn’ WhatsApp messaging system to mock him and Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, defiantly posting a video of themselves in full voice. The karaoke party happened on Tuesday at the Westminster Kitchen bar and grill, which is one of Mr Corbyn’s favourite restaurants. The owner, Kurdish-born Ibrahim Dogus, is a longstanding Labour supporter and friend of the party leader. The unruly MPs partied until midnight, and the food and drink bill came to more than £3,000.
