- description: New Zealand and India produced an enthralling 3-3 draw in the Men's Hockey World League. The Black Sticks lead with just over five minutes played. New Zealand moved the ball around well to find Nick Haig on the left flank, his ball into the D took a touch off Marcus Child on the way in. New Zealand would have had a second had it not been for a wonderful block on the line from Manpreet Singh after a Andy Hayward blast from a short corner. The game sparked into life in the second half and India were back on level terms after thirty five minutes; Sunil with good work down the right, his cross met by an acrobatic volley from Mandeep Singh. Against the run of play India took the lead with a move straight off the training ground. Captain Raguhunath converted the penalty corner to make it 2-1. The Black Sticks drew level after fifty minutes. Inglis accelerated away from the Indian defence, his aerial cross met by Stephen Jenness at full stretch to turn the ball in. India again got their noses in front after a goal mouth scramble, Kothajit Singh Khadangbam with the final touch to make it 3-2. Persistent pressure paid off for the Black Sticks and tied the scores with four minutes to play. A lovely piece of individual skill and a classy reverse stick finish from Hilton. New Zealand almost grabbed a winner on the last play of the game; Alex Shaws' cross to the far post just went past the sliding Phil Burrows. But it finished honours even. New Zealand needed the win to pressurise the Netherlands at the top of Pool B., victory for the Dutch over Ireland will give them the top spot heading into the quarter-finals. Teams: India: R.
