After coming to the wicket following a massive 247-run opening stand between Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw, De Villiers compounded the tourists' misery. He reached his half-century in just 16 balls - but his second 50 came up one ball quicker, and he reached the mark by blasting a four and two sixes off consecutive balls before celebrating with yet another six. South Africa lead the five-match series 1-0 after a 69-run win in the opening game in Durban on Friday; but a second victory seems certain as South Africa reached 400 with more than two overs still to go. At the time of writing De Villiers is on 117 while Hashim Amla is on 148 from a comparatively pedestrian 137 balls.
