- description: On Tuesday, October 1, 2014, shortly after noon, a victim was in the driveway of her residence in the area of Via Campanile and La Rocca Avenue, when she was approached by a lone suspect. The suspect engaged the victim in conversation and placed a necklace around the victim’s neck. During the interaction the suspect removed the valuable necklace the victim had been wearing. The suspect is then seen leaving in a white four-door Jeep Wrangler. The theft was captured on video, which is being released in the hopes that the public will be able to assist with identifying the suspect or the suspect vehicle. York Regional Police is reminding residents to be cautious and protect themselves by following these safety tips: • Be cautious engaging in conversation with strangers that approach you in public • Conceal your valuable jewellery if it must be worn while out in public • Consider hiding your jewellery while walking in public then putting it on once you have reached your destination • If you witness any suspicious people or activity, contact police immediately. We will respond to these calls • Criminals are opportunists.
