  • description: Police Officer Gregory Zakoscielny of NYPD Highway 1 saved a woman who began choking on a candy while she was driving on the Bronx River Parkway Wednesday. Police Officer Zakoscielny was conducting speed enforcement on the Bronx highway when he observed a 2014 Ford Taurus stop in the right lane. He pulled behind the car, exited his police vehicle and immediately noticed that the driver was having difficulty breathing and holding her throat. Police Officer Zakoscielny had the 49-year-old woman step out of her vehicle where he performed the Heimlich maneuver that dislodged a throat lozenge which was blocking her airway.
