- description: Some 50 German National Democratic Party supporters staged a rally Wednesday outside Neustadt Train Station, Dresden, demanding deportation of foreigners who commit crimes in Germany. A counter rally organised by left wing activists at the same place drew around 100 people. The rally was caused by an incident that took place Friday 22 during which a German man, Rico Grabow, was attacked with a beer glass by another man who, according to a witness, was of Kurdish ethnicity. Both the right and left wing groups gathered to protest close to where the attack took place. Around 75 police members were deployed at the scene in order to prevent clashes between conflicting sides. Police used tear gas against demonstrators following fighting between the two groups. The rally lasted for over an hour with the protesters being asked to leave the site in groups in order to prevent further violent assaults.
