- description: Police have released CCTV of the moment a machete-wielding gang burst into McDonalds restaurant in Urmston and stole more than £1000. At around 8pm on Saturday 13th December 2014 four men entered the McDonalds restaurant on Neary Way, Urmston, carrying a machete and a hammer. One stood guard near the door, while the other three went behind the counter and demanded that staff open the tills and hand over cash. Having emptied the contents of three tills into a black holdall, two of the men entered the office and forced a staff member to open the safe. Once they had taken the cash from the safe, all four men left via the front door and walked across the road towards the Shetland Way housing estate. The first offender is described as white, 6ft tall, wearing dark clothing and a balaclava. The second offender was slightly shorter than the first, with stocky build, wearing dark clothing, a balaclava and carrying a hammer. The third offender was white, around 6ft 3in, and wearing dark clothing, a balaclava, bright blue trainers and was carrying a machete. The final offender was dressed in dark clothing and a balaclava. Detective Constable Amanda Tootill said: "These men were organised, well prepared and knew exactly what they wanted to do. "They were armed and used terrifying threats to achieve their aims, using the machete and hammer to scare the staff into following their orders. "Luckily none of the staff were hurt, but they were understandably shaken by this raid and it is important that we try and prevent these men from possibly targeting another restaurant in the future."
