- description: Train driver warns passengers to get on floor before collision Polish train driver has quick reaction when he sees a lorry ahead on the tracks, to slam on the brakes and run through carriages warning passengers to get on the floor and brace before collision. A train driver in western Poland has been hailed as a hero for saving passengers from injuries as the train crashed into a truck stranded on the tracks. Footage shows the moment of impact as the train crashes full pelt into a lorry that was on the tracks. Second earlier the driver, Mateusz Szymanski had rushed through one of the carriages to warn passengers. Alarmed, the passengers threw themselves on the floor just seconds before the crash. Mr Szymanski then ran into a vestibule, telling the passengers there to do the same, before ducking himself. The crash took place on April 19. Another piece of footage shows construction beams from the truck smash into emptied seats. No one was injured. Mr Szymanski said he pulled the emergency brakes and rushed to warn passengers as the train travelled at a speed of 68 miles per hour from Wagrowiec to Poznan in western Poland. Krzysztof Ryfa, a railway director, said 'We can say he almost certainly saved passengers from injuries'
