  • description: An incredible military disaster for Assad and maybe Hezbollah! BUSLOADS OF TROOPS ARE TRAPPED WITH NO COVER ON ROAD IN A GIGANTIC REINFORCEMENT CONVOY THAT WAS HEADED FOR ALEPPO I think this is the road JAN warned about. If so, one of the five strategic victories cited in the lead post is already paying off. Here's a verbal description of what is going on: #1: The rebels hit fourth of four lead vehicles. The first three are fuel vehicles with the fourth appears to be a military vehicle of some kind obscured by flame and smoke. I believe there is a second group of vehicles just to the right with one on fire which would shut down an advance by the remaining convoy. You can see the rebels appear to hold the only high position around while the country on both sides of the convoy is totally flat with no cover—a perfect ambush position. #2: After a gap of 50 yards or so you see about a dozen vehicles. All but one are unarmored buses, surely packed with troops. No one is getting out and there is nowhere to flee except on open ground. #3: You seem rebel artillery, mortars, machine guns and tanks hammering away at the convoy which shows no sign of anyone getting off the trapped vehicles. The first rebel artillery piece appears to be targeting the remaining lead vehicles .#4: After a large gap you see three more buses, a small gap, then two more buses (slightly apart) another gap followed by what looks like a truck going the other way and two more buses...gap..four more vehicles of which two look like buses #5. At that point you can see two regime vehicles (not buses) taken off into the fields away from the rebel side. On the road just behind it are at least six more vehicles....(gap then two more vehicles of which one is also heading offroad....I count at least 30 more after that until the film stops. That makes around 50 vehicles I've seen and there could well be more further back. The buses would likely have well over 500 troops (guessing 40 to a bus). Rebels have likely bagged vehicles at the end of the chain to block any retreat. Anyone who exits the buses on foot will likely head for single buildings at various distances from the road but can't get very far. You won't find many regime-friendly towns to provide safety in this area. Any tanks or heavy weapons would have been left behind. (repost from iranian.com blog) original post at: http://iranian.com/posts/view/post/17875 MORE INFO ON TRAPPED REGIME CONVOY 1. The convoy originated in Hama, a fact that will have repercussions there. 2. Its assignment was to reopen a mountain road and retake Khnaser village which the rebels recently took. The regime's prompt attempt shows just how strategic that location is. The road leads to an important military complex which has now been cut off. 3. The attack occurred between Al Salamia and Al-Khanaser, the intended target. حلب : صد رتل القادم من حماة باتجاه خناصر : معركة رص الصفوف 23-7
