In this fight the alligator is armed with with a 2,000 - 3,000 pound bite force while the anaconda is armed with a relatively low bite force but has fangs meant to puncture critical areas and has the ability to wrap itself and strangle it's opponents. It seemed after aggressively perusing what looked like a weak, harmless easy meal swimming in the water, the snake found it's life in danger and struck the alligators' most vulnerable areas, it's eyes. This alligator seemed like a younger and unfortunately now has lost both eyes. Had this alligator been a bit more aggressive and not so sheepish, it could have easily crushed the snake with it's powerful jaw bite and simply let the snake die and then eat it.
