However, the cause of the feline's unusual pigmentation remains a mystery. The appearance of the green cat initially caused outrage among locals who feared it was the victim of a cruel owner. A Facebook page was even set up calling for "punishment for the perpetrator of this criminal act." But now local media has revealed that the cat likely came into contact with leaked green paint in the garage of its owners, who currently live abroad. Locals will attempt to take the cat to a veterinarian but believe the paint to be non-toxic, since the cat has not fallen ill despite regularly licking his green fur.
