- description: A brawl between two rival gangs involving weapons broke out during a funeral procession in Whakatane. Police were alerted to the incident, reportedly outside the funeral directors on Awatapu Dr, by members of the public who complained of disorder and fighting with weapons. Police attended the scene at around 8.40pm. "The disorder occurred during a funeral procession for Mongrel Mob member who died in Kawerau yesterday," police said in a statement.
