Apart from her slow but steady recovery, she has been globally acknowledged for her display of courage and determination. This is evident as a Canada based radio station interviewed Sonali and aired her life story to the listeners of Canada. A US based magazine also carried a write-up on her, applauding her will to fight for injustice. Back home in India, Sonali has been invited as a special guest to attend the Indian Television Academy Awards (ITA) function in Mumbai. Besides that, she has featured in the famous quiz show 'Kaun Banega Corerpati' (KBC) along with Lara Dutta. She has been rightly acknowledged by CNN-IBN as the felicitated her with an award for 'Undying Spirit'. A fund-raising was organized for her, in the city of Mumbai, where Geetanjali Jewellers were associated with the cause.
