William and Kate began their trip in Glasgow where they visited the city's Emirates Arena, one of the sites for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The sporty couple watched cyclists in action and saw netball and badminton demonstrations. The royal couple, who are due to become parents in July, visited a homeless shelter in Glasgow's south side. At Quarriers Stopover, William made a Skype call to two of their former residents who are now on a work exchange programme in the Netherlands. \ Their last stop on Thursday is to a launch sports coaching project for their Royal Foundation at the Donald Dewar Leisure Centre in Drumchapel. Most little girls dream of kissing a prince... but not this toddler. Prince William was left red-faced when a four-year-old royal well-wisher left him hanging as he went in for a peck on the cheek during a visit to Scotland. Little Shona Ritchie asked the Duke for a kiss as she joined the crowds gathered at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. But as 30-year-old Wills lent forward to oblige her request, he was left puckering up to thin air when the little girl - who was dressed as a princess - shyly buried her head in her mother's shoulder. For the crowds outside the impressive sports complex, the incident proved a highlight as they eagerly tried to catch a glimpse of the Royal visitors. Shona's mother Karen, 34, was almost as surprised by her daughter's reaction as William. Afterwards she said: "Shona has been up, dressed in her costume since six this morning. "She was so excited to try and meet Wills and Kate. "When William came over she asked him for a kiss. "But as he went to kiss her, Shona buried her head in my shoulder. "He gave her an air kiss but I think he was quite embarrassed when everyone started laughing."
