The protest gathered near a synagogue at the corner of rue Keller and Rue de la Roquette in the French capital's 11th Arrondissement in the late afternoon. The rally coincided with a Jewish Defence League rally in the area in support of Israel. Projectiles were thrown at police and gendarmes who responded to tear gas.
