Hong Kong airport protests took a violent turn when police showed up to disperse the crowds blocking the international airport terminals. Demonstrators initially appeared to force the airport staff outside, later barricading the airport road with baggage carts and throwing plastic bottles at police vehicles when scuffles broke out. One police officer was beaten by demonstrators and fell to the floor before being helped to their feet by fellow officers.
