Also, some people seem concerned that this may lead to war, but I can confidently say that won't happen. These islands have been disputed for roughly 40 years--this is not a recent issue. This is just a way for Chinese citizens to blow off some steam and the Chinese government to save face in front of its citizens. The issue will die down, like it always does. Until there is a shift in the dynamics of East Asia both governments are going to keep this dispute at a stalemate. No one would gain anything from war, and that is absolutely the last thing either country wants to happen.
