- description: On March 3, 2014, we encountered two large oarfish swimming toward us in the shallows off of Isla San Francisco in the Sea of Cortez. We filmed them as they repeatedly beached themselves, despite our efforts to shepherd them back into deeper waters. Eventually they came to rest onshore, and their bright blues and silvers faded. What an astounding wildlife experience!
