Deer Attacks Man Taking a Photo Deer Attacks Man Taking a Photo Deer attacks photographer Dan Milner: Camera shy stag gets angry with photographer who decided to get a bit too close to him to take pictures. Some photographers are prepared to do almost anything to get the perfect shot - sometimes with rather painful consequences. And adventure photographer Dan Milner found that out to his cost when trying to get a close-up snap of a rather camera shy wild stag. The huge animal thrust its razor sharp antlers into Dan's face with its full force as he went in for a shot of the wild deer. Thankfully, his camera equipment took the brunt of the impact. But it left a nasty gash on his nose. Not to mention a £1,400 bill for a new lens which was scratched. The incident, which took place during a blizzard-hit nine-day shoot in the Scottish Highlands for U.S. Writing on his blog, Dan said: 'You'd think I'd be braced for pretty much anything the weather can throw at me by now with 15 years of pro shooting in remote corners of the world tucked under my belt, but hey ho, Scotland was playing its joker when it came to photographer-bashing last week. 'Blizzards? Tick. 100 mph winds? Tick. -20C windchill? Tick. Headbutted by a stag? tick,' before adding: 'The lens made it through.. probably the toughest test for an optic coating ever.... amazing.' They had just finished filming top riders bronze medalist Markku Koski, X-games winner Hampus Mosseson and British champ Aimee Fuller around Cairngorm, The Lecht and Glencoe resorts during March 2011. Heading home, they spotted the animal grazing on the side of a road. But the seemingly placid animal snapped into aggression just as Dan crouched down to get a close up shot. The impact sent the photographer, with years of experience taking pictured in some of the world's most inhospitable and extreme environments, lurching backwards. But Dan was able to see the funny side of his brush with the local wildlife. Seconds after the incident, and bleeding from a wound to the bridge of his nose, Dan says: '30 years a vegetarian has just come to a finish'.
