  • description: Forget the velodrome and the Tour, this is proper biking. Filip Polc took first place on Saturday in the annual, "Descent of the Condor" extreme mountain biking competition held in Bolivia. The downhill race started in the aptly named city of El Alto (the Heights) at a kicking off point of 4,085 metres above sea level and ended in the capital, La Paz situated at 3,600 metres. Polc finished in first place, covering the 1.6 kilometres course in a time of two minutes, 32 seconds. Yannick Wende came in second place and was followed in third by Chilean, Enrique Genoa. This is the third version of the event, which was revived in 2006. According to organisers, next year's event is set to be even more extreme as it begins from a nearby mountain range with an altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level.
