Emma Parrey, 33, had previously opened up about the extreme measures she takes to keep her teenage daughter and her other children safe - locking her 16-year-old in a 'wooden box' every night. Stephanie's bedroom has been transformed from a typical teen haven into a 'safe room' devoid of anything which she could use to hurt herself or her family. Emma estimates her daughter has attempted to commit suicide 12 times in the last two years, leaving her "heartbroken, confused, scared, worried, beside herself that her little girl didn't want to be alive." There is only one psychiatric facility in the area capable and qualified to give the teen the long-term treatment she needs, but the family has been turned away as they have a private psychiatrist. Last week, Emma and her family went through a terrifying ordeal at their home near Adelaide, which the mum puts down to Steph not getting the help she needs. She has released the audio footage in the video above in the hope of raising awareness of the issue. Below she describes the events of that upsetting night in her own words. Emma told Mirror Online: "I was on the phone to my friend and I had just called out 'Steph, where are you?' She answered that she was in the loo. "My other two children and I went out the front door on the porch as they were wanting to play outside. Next thing, the door slams behind us and my youngest daughter is screaming 'No, Stephie!' "Immediately my blood ran cold. I knew we were in for a bad episode." "I was calling out for Steph to open the door. I ran a circle around the house trying EVERY access point we had. I knew I had to get in to her. Every window and every door was shut. I had no way in and she had access to a knife. "I was filled with dread. I had no option but to kick my front door in - i's nothing like the movies, where after the first kick the door flies open. It took all my strength. "I ran into the kitchen and saw Steph - and the knife." "My heart fell into my feet. My daughter was in front of me telling me that it's useless, she's too damaged for anyone to fix and I shouldn't get help for her as she isn't worth the trouble. "My two younger children had followed me in. I could see things were about to get ugly. Steph turned the knife away from herself towards me, forcing the kids and myself backwards towards my bedroom. This is where the voice recording starts from. "Once in my room I was terrified she could get in." "My 12-year-old son, Brae, heroically called 000 (the Australian emergency services number) and calmly told the dispatcher everything that was happening. "He was able to give names, date of birth and directions to our place. I couldn't have been more proud of him in that situation. "While Brae was on the phone to police I called my friend, who is a social worker and who is heavily involved with my family.
