SOT, Sergei Shoigu, Russian Defence Minister (Russian): "In accordance with your orders on September 30 the implementation of the operation in Syria was started. In total, about 9,000 combat sorties were conducted. For the first time strikes with precision weapons from a distance of more than 1,500 kilometres by sea and air based missiles were inflicted. During this time as a result of the strikes we managed to stop and in separate areas to fully cease the supply of terrorists through the prevention of trafficking and trade in hydrocarbons. The major routes of hydrocarbon supply to Turkey and the main routes of weapon and ammunition deliveries to the militants were severed." SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "We consistently took steps, first: following your talks with US President Barack Obama, the Russian-US team started to prepare a wider process involving outside assistance for the inter-Syria talks. The International Syria Support Group was also created and it involved all the key players, without any exceptions, and regional powers. The agreements which were reached about the parameters of the Syrian political process were approved in two resolutions of the UN Security Council. [The resolutions] approved the trilateral process of the ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid to the previously blocked areas and the start of the inter-Syria talks." SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "The efficient work of our military men created conditions for the start of the peace process. I consider the objectives that have been set for the Defence Ministry and for Russia's Armed Forces in the Syrian Arab Republic to be generally accomplished. The involvement of Russia's military men and Russia's military group, the Syrian troops and the patriotic Syrian forces managed to drastically change the situation in the fight against international terrorism." SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "I consider the objectives that have been set for the Defence Ministry to be generally accomplished. That is why I order the minister of defence to start the withdrawal of the main part of our military group from the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic tomorrow. And I ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intensify Russia's involvement in the organisation of the peace process and the settlement of the Syrian problem. However, our bases - the naval base at Tartus and the aviation base at Hmeymim airbase will function as usual."
