This versatile style has won her fans that span generations, gender and genres. A talented musician, Ellysa started playing the piano at age 4, cello at 10, and wrote her first song at just 12 years old. Determined to expand her musical range, Ellysa saved up enough money to buy her first guitar at 15 and taught herself to play, picking up the ukulele soon after. Ellysa's songwriting has a depth and maturity that is unusual in an 18 year old. Her songs are full of insightful lyrics and memorable melodies, which is why Ellysa is often compared to Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, and Florence Welch (of Florence + the Machine). Music was the only friend she could pack up and take with her. Now she has packed up all of her instruments and moved from Michigan to California to take her career to the next level. In November, 2012, Ellysa released her first single, "Color Outside the Lines". Ellysa played in her first festival, the Wicked Music Festival at the Key Club in December 2012, where she won for the Plush Lounge Stage, taking second overall. Her follow-up single and music video, "Content With a Memory" (released June 2013) is taking the internet by storm, gaining over 200,000 views in only 3 weeks!
