The visitors put on a great show for the spectators and overcome a resilient South China side by a score of 1-0. The Premier League side generated the first scoring chance on the 13th minute when Edin Dzeko broke loose from his markers on the flank and muscled his way towards the South China goal, before firing a shot that just went wide off the goal. Manchester City almost opened the score on the 16th minute when James Milner turned on the afterburners down the wing before delivering a lovely pass that Edin Dzeko just failed to connect. It was a glorious opportunity for City. The Premier League powerhouse continued to seek the first goal. Shortly afterwards, James Milner once again delivered a threatening pass into the South China box. Yaya Toure timed his jump perfectly and headed the ball towards the South China goal, only to be rejected by a superb Zhang Chunhui save. City finally scored the opening goal that they deserved on the 21st minute when the ever-lively James Milner danced past his marker before whipping in a cross that was coolly headed into the net by Edin Dzeko. Manchester City was now leading 1-0. The visitors continued to pour pressure towards the South China goal. On the 41st minute, Yaya Toure found himself with the ball, then spun and turned before shooting the ball wide from the target. South China desperately tried to give their supporters something to cheer for. They came close on the 54th minute when Diego Martins powered his way into the Manchester City box. This delicate cross created a mini havoc inside the City box but the visitors managed to clear the ball away from danger. The score stood still for the rest of the game as Manchester City fought off a resilient South China side by a score of 1-0.
