- description: The Hawkeye score detection system was used in the GAA for the first time during the Kildare and Offaly Leinster football championship quarter final clash at Croke Park on June 1st. Clare referee Rory Hickey was the man in the middle for the game and he made history in the 46th minute when he became the first official to send a decision to the system following a shot by Offaly's Peter Cunningham. He is pleased that referees now have another tool in their armoury as they bid to improve their own standards.
